Speakers' bio


Prof Tak Man Wong

Professor Tak Man Wong is the Director of the University of Hong Kong Health System and appointed Associate Dean (Clinical Affairs) of the LKS Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong. Professor Wong is the Clinical Professor, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the University of Hong Kong; Chief Convenor of HKUMed Sports Health; and the Chief of Division of Sports and Arthroscopic Surgery, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.

 

Professor Wong also serves in several other roles, including the Key Personnel at Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital; Director of The University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Teaching Hospital Ltd; and a Member of the Board of Governors of Prince Philip Dental Hospital.


Dr Winson Chan

Dr Winson Chan is a recent graduate of the HKU MBBS program and an orthopaedic intern at Pamela Youde Eastern Hospital. A strong advocate for student–educator partnerships, he is passionate about promoting sports health both within the community and in professional practice.


Winson co-leads the Hong Kong chapter of the global running club Midnight Runners, where he focuses on social running and community building. As the club’s safety advisor, he combines medical expertise with practical running experience to guide members in injury prevention and safe training.A running enthusiast himself, Winson completed the 2025 UTMB Translantau 80km and has competed in marathons and half-marathons worldwide.


At this seminar, he will share practical principles and actionable tips for safely managing running injuries, drawing on both his clinical training and his personal journey as a long-distance runner.


Dr Man Yee Cheung 

Dr Cheung Man-yee offers a dual perspective on running safety as both an ultramarathon champion and Associate Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery. She has excelled in major international events, winning the 2025 Mt. Fuji 100 (Japan), the 2025 Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler (Australia), and the 2026 Rinjani 100 (Indonesia). She also became the first Hong Kong-born female Finisher for 298km Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge.


Professionally, Dr Cheung is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, working full-time at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. Her clinical practice spans trauma fractures, orthopaedic emergencies, and bone and joint surgeries, alongside teaching medical students at The University of Hong Kong.


Balancing hospital duties with high-mileage training, she often runs her daily commute. At this seminar, she will share practical first aid, injury prevention, and recovery strategies for runners.
